What is Hypnotherapy and What It Is Not?
Let's start with what it is not. I notice there is quite a bit of confusion about this. First and foremost, Hypnotherapy is not scary; you don't lose control, cluck like a chicken, or bite into lemons thinking they're juicy peaches. You also won't be ridiculed by an audience. That happens in stage hypnosis. It's very entertaining and certainly demonstrates the power of hypnosis, but it has nothing to do with hypnotherapy.
So, what is Hypnotherapy? First, let's clarify the term hypnosis. Hypnosis is nothing more than deep, soothing relaxation. That alone is valuable in this fast-paced and stressful era. Hypnos comes from Greek and means sleep. That's not the best description because you remain fully present during a session, but in a relaxed state. This profound relaxation helps your mind become calm and tranquil, allowing you to connect with your inner world, your subconscious.
This relaxation is not only very pleasant to experience but also essential. Why? Because in your subconscious mind, everything is stored that you have felt, experienced, perceived, and accepted as true since your conception (or even before). We can access this information effectively only when we are completely relaxed, both physically and mentally.
During roughly the first seven years of our lives, you simply believe everything your parents and other caregivers (such as teachers) say to you. Kind and hurtful things, compliments and criticism, you soak it all up like a thirsty sponge. You've come to believe all sorts of things about yourself, and – it won't surprise you - especially the negative ones. And they continue to hold you back to this day.

So, during those first seven years, all sorts of seeds are sown in your subconscious. Seeds that produce beautiful flowers like self-love, a healthy self-image, and self-confidence. But also seeds that grow into weeds in the form of, for example, fear of commitment, doubt, fears, and a lack of self-worth/self-respect and the feeling of not being good enough.
This 'weed' creates a somber undertone that you wake up with most days, already darkening your day before it even begins. Such a undertone of powerlessness that keeps you feeling small and indecisive, and causes you not to take good care of yourself. It lets you cross your boundaries, linger too long in work, relationships, and friendships that are not good for you.

How Does Happy Hypno Work?
It starts with a phone call where we explore if I can assist you and with what. If it's a yes, we schedule the first session (out of three) and I'll send you the intake form.
You'll be warmly welcomed with tea, and we'll delve deeper into why you're here. I'll ask you questions that quickly get to the core of the issue and connect you with your inner resources.
My first question is the same for every Happy Hypno session: What is the issue you're going to work through today? So, we're dealing with something that is bothering you in the NOW, and we resolve it under hypnosis. It may be that we work on different aspects of the same problem three times or on three different problems. My comfortable recliner helps you relax and let go completely, and my voice does the rest. Then your subconscious can get to work.
A Happy Hypno session lasts 90 minutes to two hours. And that times three. So, plenty of time just for you. Afterward, we'll have another cup of tea so you can let it all sink in calmly. Experience has shown that after just one session, a completely different feeling can emerge.
